A Short History of the Wilson Seniors Advisory Association

The Wilson Centre Seniors’ Advisory Association· The Wilson Centre Seniors’ Advisory Association located in Port Coquitlam, has been a charity registered with Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) since 1992. During its history, the Association has long been an advocate for seniors in the tri-cities. Our members receive discounts from the City of Port Coquitlam on their recreational activities. The Associations of over 1100 members continue to advocate for seniors in tri-cities, continuing to provide a food service program and working with the city to provide recreational support for all seniors.

II the past 30 years we have sponsored or supported the following activities in Port Coquitlam:

  • Sponsored activities for the Port Coquitlam annual May Day Festival.
  • Funding for Stroke Recovery Programme.
  • Providing display cases for articles seniors make to help with funding.
  • Donated to Seniors in need and families in need.
  • Provided recreational opportunities & support for individuals with mild dementia,
  • Provided equipment for seniors’ fitness programmes.
  • Provided funding for the stroke recovery programme.
  • Provided support for caregivers in tri-cities area.
  • Supported local charities for Xmas hampers.
  • Donated monthly to the food bank.
  • Donated for activities at Hawthorne lodge intermediate care facility.
  • Donated to Manitoba flood relief.
  • Held a Personal safety forum.
  • Ran Community volunteer services for isolated seniors in the northeast sector (Port Coquitlam, Port Moody, Coquitlam Ioco, Anmore, Belcarra).
  • We also work with the Parks & Recreation Dept so they can run age-appropriate senior programs.
