Hi everyone, my name is Royce Shook and I am taking over for Joan as President. First, I wish to thank Joan for her work during the last year and a half. She has done a great job for someone with no experience, during a time of transition and change. Transition and change are hard at the best of times, but when the change is happening because of the building of a new facility change is harder. As Joan stated in her last blog, the old center is 90% demolished and the new center is moving forward to completion very quickly, and we will need your patience as we move forward to the completion of the new facility.
I have lived in Port Coquitlam since 1992 and I look forward to working with the Wilson Seniors city staff, Chris, Carmel, and learning about the programs and how the center will continue to serve the needs of the seniors in Port Coquitlam. I look forward to meeting Sam and the volunteers who work in the kitchen. I also look forward to hearing the story behind how Sam opened a kitchen with equipment missing. I am excited to begin work with the Board of Directors who helped Joan though the last year and a half and meeting all of you over the course of the year.
